What I Would Not Be The Person I Am Today - 866 Words

I would not be the person I am today if I did not have to experience hardships in my life. Fighting adversity and taking steps in order to make my weaknesses into strengths, has shown me that anything is possible. I however, was not always so confident in my ability to fight the difficulties that plagued my life. My child hood was not what one would consider idea. My father was not around, and my mother was not capable of supporting us when I was younger. I lived in an apartment with other family members, and from an early age I experienced abuse. I skipped school and did not try because I felt it was pointless, because I had no hope. After High school I took a semester off just to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Around that time, I was having suicidal thoughts, and it was my plan to act on those thoughts, but for some reason I chose not to. I saw were my life was heading, and I did not want to let my past dictate my future anymore. It was then I decided I would go away to college to start over. There I was able to get counseling, and through that I was able to get to the root of the issue. The healing process began, and through all of the adversity I was facing, I came out on top. My story is what inspires me to help others, because I know what it means to feel like you are in this dark placeShow MoreRelatedWho I Am Essay735 Words   |  3 PagesWho Am I?
